- In this thesis, the main subject is the development of new solid catalysts and their application for the conversion of biomass into base chemicals. These catalysts were supposed to contain neither acidic nor metallic sites to avoid acid or metal contaminated products and waste. This approach was realized by the preparation of functional, cross-linked organic polymers. In particular, two systems were investigated, including the selective oxidation of D-glucose into D-glucaric acid by polymer-immobilized TEMPO radicals as well as the dehydration of D-fructose into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural by polymer-immobilized, aprotic ionic liquids.
