On the cycle spaces associated to orbits of semi-simple Lie Groups
- Let \(\it G\) be a semi-simple Lie group and \(\it Q\) a parabolic subgroup of its complexification \(\it G\)C, then Z = \(\it G\)C/\(\it Q\) is a complex \(\it G\) C-flag manifold. The group \(\it G\) as well as \(\it K\)C, the complexification of the maximal compact subgroup of \(\it G\), acts naturally on Z with finitely many orbits. For any \(\it G\)-orbit °, there exists a \(\it K\)C-orbit such that the intersection ° \ is non-empty and compact. Considering cycle intersection at the boundary of a \(\it G\)-orbit, a definition of the cycle space associated to any \(\it G\)-orbit is given. Using methods involving Schubert varieties and Schubert slices together with geometric properties of a certain complementary incidence hypersurface, the cycle space associated to an arbitrary \(\it G\)-orbit ° is completely characterized. In particular, it is shown that all the cycle spaces except in a few Hermitian cases are equivalent to the domain \(\it AG\). In the exceptional Hermitian cases, the cycle spaces are equivalent to the associated bounded domain.
- Es sei \(\it G\) eine halbeinfache Liesche Gruppe und \(\it Q\) eine parabolische Untergruppe ihrer Komplexifizierung \(\it G\)C, dann ist Z = \(\it G\)C/\(\it Q\) eine komplexe \(\it G\)C-Fahnenmannigfaltigkeit.
