Digital holographic microscopy for nanostructure investigation
- Nanostructures are a growing future technology. Their progress is connected to the development of modern microscopy methods for their investigation. Commonly used methods are atomic force microscopy and electron microscopy. They provide superior resolution, but come with a number of limitations. New high-resolution digital holographic microscopy (DHM) techniques are able to overcome some of these limitations. With lower technical and financial effort, they are able to perform contactless, non-invasive, three-dimensional topographic imaging, even of buried structures, and provide additional sample information by phase image acquisition. This thesis shows the utilization of modern microscopy techniques for the investigation of nanostructures from high-resolution stationary methods down to a portable smartphone solution for a range of applications.
