• The detailed characterization of the rudist (\(\it Hippuritoidea\)) decline at the end of the Cretaceous is one of the main objectives of the presented thesis. Especially stratigraphical aspects are analyzed by applying strontium-isotope stratigraphy. The context of demise of the Late Cretaceous shallow-water carbonate platforms and the palaeogeographic distribution of the rudists are also discussed. The thesis is divided into three main parts: 1) Strontium-isotope stratigraphy of the Apulian (S Italy) carbonate platform rudists, 2) The extinction of the rudist in the Oman at the Cretaceous / Paleogene boundary, 3) The global distribution and demise of Campanian - Maastrichtian shallow-water carbonate platforms and rudists.
• Die detaillierte Charakterisierung des Niedergangs der Rudisten (\(\it Hippuritoidea\)) am Ende der Kreidezeit steht im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit. Dabei werden vor allem stratigraphische Aspekte, mit Hilfe von geochemischen Analysen, wie der Strontium-Isotopen Stratigraphie, untersucht. Weiterhin wird der Zusammenhang zwischen dem Untergang der oberkretazischen Karbonatplattformen und der paläogeographischen Verteilung der Rudisten diskutiert. Die Arbeit ist in drei Themenkomplexe aufgeteilt: 1) Strontium-Isotopen Stratigraphie von Rudisten der Apulischen Karbonatplattform (Süditalien), 2) Das Aussterben der Rudisten im Oman an der Kreide / Paläogengrenze, 3) Die globale Verteilung von Karbonatplattformen und Rudisten im Campan - Maastricht und deren Untergang.
