Properties of generalised parton distributions

  • In the present Thesis non-perturbative nucleon generalised parton distributions (GPDs) which appear in description of hard exclusive reactions in the framework of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) are considered. The GPDs are non-calculable from the first principles of QCD but possess general properties (such as positivity and polynomiality), which must be satisfied by any model representation for GPDs. All suggested in literature representations for GPDs violate either positivity or polynomiality. The role of quark-gluon effects in twist-3 GPDs is also yet unclear. The following new results are presented in the Thesis: a representation for the nucleon GPDs which satisfies both positivity and polynomiality conditions is constructed; explicit form of massive and genuine twist-3 quark-gluon contributions to GPDs is obtained; the quark-gluon contributions to GPDs are estimated in the model of the instanton vacuum and found to be suppressed; exact sum rules for the twist-3 GPDs are derived.
