Distributions on unbounded moment spaces and matrix moment spaces
- In this thesis, we define natural families of distributions on moment spaces corresponding to measures with support in a compact interval, the half-line or the whole real axis. This generalizes a classical result by Chang, Kemperman and Studden (1993) who considered the uniform distribution on the compact moment space. For the generalized distributions central limit theorems are obtained and we establish a connection to the theory of random matrices. We show that the moments of the spectral measure of the Gaussian, Laguerre and Jacobi ensemble are distributed according to the new distributions.
In the second part we consider the problem of random moments in higher dimensions and study random matricial moments of matrix measures. A weak convergence result can be proven also in this case, where the fluctuations around the limit can be expressed by matrices of the Gaussian ensemble. Furthermore, we prove a large deviation principle for random matrix measures in the compact case.
